The more distance between Juno's Ellen Page, the more shows that they may be the best actress in Hollywood for the youth to give great performances. Whip It, A-star Drew Barrymore's directorial debut, is another feather in the hat of a curriculum that is already recognized role in Juno and Hard Candy therein.
Bliss (Page) is a high school to find out who she is. His mother (Marcia Gay Harden) and her younger sister she wants to be beauty queens as they, in spite of bliss. A waitress in a restaurant of Bodeen, Texas, happiness, and her best friend, Pash (Alia Shawkat of Arrested Development FAME) are strangers in a small town in Texas, a world that has a few insiders. In a chance encounter with a pair of skates in a shop in Derby head in Austin, Texas, is a target and the direction that puts it on the road to a little place in the world: "The roller derby ring. As with the Boy Scouts Jammer "Throw" Bliss renamed Babe Ruthless and begins a journey of self that has a strong confident woman and not the wallflower once was.
And for his directorial debut Barrymore could not have chosen a project, a better or a better offer. Based on the book Derby Girl, Barrymore has for years been a top flight producer, but has apparently played with the address (as do) many players. But she has been waiting for this opportunity, and that is, as Whip It! is a film that so many good things for them that it is a spectacularly incompetent person, would be to ruin it. However, Barrymore has a character drama that takes the best from the film of "chicks" and merges with underdog sports story created with excellent results.
Your success begins with the screenplay for the film which is strong and charming, but the main reason for the quality of the film is the cast. Through a series of "name" actors invited into smaller parts (Juliette Lewis, Barrymore, Kristin Wiig, Eva), beauty in the film is the amount of great actors in supporting roles. Jimmy Fallon has not quite enough screen time as host of the Roller Derby does not outlast its welcome, Zoe Bell, Death Proof is another part of special fame and Andrew Wilson (brother of Luke and Owen Wilson) has a small part as a terrible head coach. There is a feeling that this film was selected for the chemical, not the whole star status, because the interesting little things to make the film, too.
Play The way Lance Scouts to "together, from start to finish, hint, why Barrymore together for this cast. They have a chemistry between them, not with a good stunt double in terms of how they move be wrong can, especially at a time when actresses skating is. The cast works well off the track, so no harm, and Barrymore is confident enough as a first film made them take the film. This is a movie with some action and set history, a kind of basic drama in rural Texas and shows Barrymore qualified to touch, play from organic farming.
For this is another side to the seemingly growing range of roles where he plays a teenager coming of age, but she does it so well that it is a negative one. Juno MacGuff and Bliss Cavender would probably be friends in real life, but are not the same person, credit for the adoption of two similar parties in writing and make two different characters, but it's nice outside. It is perhaps not as loud as a part of his Oscar-nominated turn, but Page is fantastic in the role.
If you do not know better, you'd think that Whip It! was developed by an experienced director with a deep understanding of character-based dramas. Barrymore is a credit to produce for the first time behind the camera is a gem of a film.
